What is your role?

Assistant Retail Business Manager

Where do you reside?

Del Rio, TX

How did you get into the wireless industry?

I got into the wireless industry as a new employment opportunity. I was working as a manager for a sporting memorabilia store and through word of mouth heard about a new employment opportunity. Applied for the retail sales position and got the job. This was in 2000 and have been in this industry ever since.

How long have you been with your company, and what has your career path been?

I have been with my current organization for four years. I was fortunate to start with this company as they were in the process of opening my location as a retail sales representative. It gave me the opportunity to experience a new launch, marketing events and our grand opening. An exciting time for everyone involved. I was also nominated as our store inventory specialist, which has helped me learn much of the back office procedures that I use today. I then migrated over as a lead/key holder a few months later adding experience to take on the Assistant Manager position. Finally a year and a half ago I was offered the assistant manager position. I have enjoyed the journey and am now looking to move up the chain of command.

What has been your greatest challenge, being fairly new to the industry?

My greatest challenge in the beginning of my career was getting accustomed to the ever changing industry. There is ever a dull moment in the world of telecommunications. As an assistant manager the biggest challenge was transitioning from my teams equal to management. As a manager I acquired the ability to delegate tasks to be more efficient but found myself trying to do everything playing the role of a lead and management.

What valuable piece of wisdom have you learned from the wireless industry that you can share with our members that might help them in their career or personal lives?

Something I have learned over the years is consistency. Being consistent in everything you do in life and work will ensure your success because others will take notice. I also learned to make time for family as well. Telecommunications can be addicting, the fast paced environment, always having one more thing to get done, activating one last customer. Making time for your personal life and separating work and home is important in order to maintain your sanity.

What do you hope to gain by being a new member of WWLF?

I hope to gain knowledge and new experiences. I enjoy learning from others within the same industry and taking in their experiences and visions.

What are your other hobbies and interests outside of work?

As a little girl my grandfather used to cook for me and was able to learn from him. Today I enjoy cooking and have taken some culinary classes. I enjoy spending time with family; taking short trips to encourage my children have bigger visions and dreams for their future. I also enjoy fashion.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

In five years I see myself with a bachelor in business management, in an upper management role such as a customer operations manager or district director and possibly a business owner; whichever comes first.
