An interview by Nicole Andrepont, WWLF Executive Director of Industry Relations

What is your role?

My title is Construction Project Administrator. However, my role bridges between Network Deployment and Property Management. So, in any given day, I wear a few different hats.

Where do you reside?

I live in the City of Irvine in Orange County - Southern California.

How did you get into the wireless industry?

Largely by chance. My background over the past 13 years has been in construction, most predominantly in multi-family housing. Feeling the squeeze of the dwindling housing market, I had to reinvent myself in order to stay relevant. The experience and skills I've acquired were easily transferrable to the needed role of managing and expanding our cellular imprint. It has been a smooth transition and opened many opportunities for growth.

How long have you been with Mobilitie, and what has your career path been?

While having only been with Mobilitie for 4 months so far, I feel that my roots have firmly taken hold. I'm on the ground floor right now learning all aspects of site maintenance and construction - what I would consider being a great introduction into the industry. I hope to make my career in the development of these sites and this is a great way to start.

What valuable piece of wisdom have you learned from the wireless industry that you can share with our members that might help them in their career or personal lives?

Flexibility. I had never imagined the complexity of site acquisition, development, and management all while continually moving forward to meet the demands of ever developing technologies and consumer interests. To be well versed in as many areas of the wireless world as possible is a great advantage. Whether or not it is your area of specialty, it will give you better appreciation of all the moving parts - gives you greater solutions to consider, options to explore and the ability to step in and contribute on those multiple levels.

What do you hope to gain by being a new member of WWLF?

I hope to be inspired and through my experience be an inspiration to others.

How does it feel to be WWLF's FIRST Fellowship Award recipient?

It's a little overwhelming but certainly very exciting. I truly appreciate the nomination and support. I will work towards meeting the expectations this recognition warrants and take full advantage of the opportunities it provides.

What are your other hobbies and interests outside of work?

I volunteer as a trail guide with the Irvine Ranch Natural Landmarks - an organization committed to protecting and maintaining 40,000 acres of open space preserve in the Orange County area. As a hiker and avid mountain biker, I enjoy sharing and educating others about the outdoors. When not running on our local trails for enjoyment or just-for-fun competition at the Camp Pendleton Marine Corp Base, I also enjoy photography, recreational diving and cheering on our Los Angeles Kings - as hockey is my favorite sport.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

I would like to achieve a position where I can make lasting contributions. I think that it would be a very satisfying experience to lead a development team for site acquisition and/or construction and turn a con-cept into a tower or Wi-Fi capabilities for public benefit. I would like to be part of a network of people that not only enhance technology but make it readily available. So, building upon my current experiences, knowledge and skills will be key in obtaining that goal and hopefully placing me in a position where I can mentor someone similar to me today in her 5 year quest for success.
